About Varun Anand Damle
Shri. Varun Anand Damle, is the founder and teacher at Varun Tabla Vidyalaya. Varun started the academy with the intention of making Tabla playing a systematic and disciplined process. Varun is a Tabla Visharad, and a disciple of Tabla legend and Guru Pt. Sadashiv Pawar ji and Pt. Aditya Kalyanpur ji.
Varun studied Traditional tabla, the techniques, the mathematics, infinite compositions from his first Guru Pt. Sadashiv Pawar ji through the traditional Guru Shishya way of learning. Pt Pawar was a world-famous performer and a disciple of Ustad Amir Hussain Khan.
With all these years of intense learning, Varun is now imparting some traditional and new updated tabla compositions and techniques to his students in Mumbai, Karnataka, Goa and the United States of America.
Varun also did his Masters of Management Studies from Mumbai University and Post Graduate diploma in Advertising and Public Relations from Welingkar’s College, Mumbai.
Varun says that learning tabla is a serious and fulltime process. One needs to have a dedicated and trained teacher to learn anything. This is why Varun started his Tabla school, to train students wanting to learn Basic level tabla. The finger techniques are of utmost importance during the initial formative years of training. Varun Tabla Viyalaya is Varun’s humble initiative to follow the Guru Shishya style of teaching and learning, in a modern set up.
Varun was associated with the community radio station headed by Commentator and Radio Consultant Pankaj Athavale, to develop 21 interactive radio episodes featuring tabla and bollywood music. To sum it all, Varun is a trained tabla player with the intention to sincerely promote and teach the age old art of tabla playing.
