Just learning tabla sitting at home gives no motivation. As tabla is a performing arts instrument, it needs one to go on stage, feel the anxiety and then play a solo for a select crowd or audience.
Varun Tabla Vidyalaya organizes one Grand Students event every year, in which the student, however new or senior has to go on stage and perform a traditional tabla solo with a professional lehra player to accompany him.
This is exactly when one realizes that how difficult it is to play a disciplined tabla solo on stage.
These yearly events motivate the students to do better by each passing year. A few senior students show their skills at helping us to manage the event, put up banners, help the other performing artists etc. It’s a happy festival and student wait each year for the annual event to happen.
